Volunteer and Community Service

If you would like to volunteer your time at the library, need volunteer hours for school, or are required to do community service, you are welcome to serve at the Stephenville Public Library.

How to Volunteer or Serve Community Service

If you are under 18, you must bring a parent or guardian to fill out paperwork.

If you are serving community service for a court offense, you must bring your charge sheet with you on your first visit.

You may work anytime we are open, however, we suggest you call ahead. This way we can inform you if you are not needed.

Rules and Information

Your tasks at the library can be anything a staff member assigns. Volunteers are not permitted to check out books or work behind the counter. Some common tasks include, but are not limited to:

Shelving books
Sorting magazines
Making copies
Dusting shelves
Stamping books

Dress must be appropriate. Library staff reserves the right to send any volunteer or worker home to change if we find the dress inappropriate.

If you finish an assigned job, please inform the library staff so they may assign you another task.

You may take break 15 minute breaks after at least two hours of work. However, your break is more than 15 minutes, you must sign out.

If you would like to read or use the computer, you must sign out.

No headphones, cell phones, etc. are allowed while working.
